SWAT: The district administration has finalised security plan for May 30 local bodies (LB) elections 2015 in Swat district according to which 7136 security personnel would be deployed on different polling stations and booths for security.
Official sources told a news agency on Thursday that out of these security officials, 6661 police officials would also perform security duty during the LB elections in Swat. The police would be deployed in premises of polling stations and polling booths and voters without identity cards would not be allowed to enter the polling stations. Bringing any kinds of arms and ammunition in the premises of polling stations except by security personnel, would be barred. Meanwhile, the candidates of different political parties and independents intensified election campaign and are visiting door to door besides holding corner meetings to get maximum public support in their favour.
The election fever has picked up in Swat valley after candidates were allotted election symbols by the Election Commission (EC). The candidates along with their supporters in groups are visiting house to house especially during nights to attract voters’ attention. In Swat, about 1.485 million registered voters will exercise their right of franchise in the LB elections. As many as 709 polling stations and1798 polling booth have been setup for the voters to elect 214 candidates for different seats of 44 neigbourhood and 170 village councils.
Out of these polling stations, 115 were declared sensitive and 74 most sensitive besides 540 normal while 7900 electoral staff has been appointed for conducting free and fair elections.
